Mat is a great writer and he almost always writes what I’ve been thinking.

Not with Path, though. I wrote about Path’s launch last November for Fast Company; the ‘viewed’ feature that Mat likes so much freaked me out even then. At best, it’s one more thing we have to do online for our friends to show how much we care about what they post all the time. 

Now it’s worse. I opened up Path last week to accept a few friend requests and automagically my location appeared in my timeline. MY LOCATION. It works, sure, just like Facebook works, but let’s not do this again. Our data is ours. 

I doubt I’ll open Path in 2012.
