Book no.1, my Dante biography. This book was written in Italian, and so I decided that I wanted to represent the fact that as I only speak English, I could not understand this book. If I needed to try and decipher it, I’d have to go through it and pick out any English words I recognised. So using a scalpel I removed all of the text on the page bar the English words.

There are two sides to every question - Black field of cut steel plants hides a colorful secret …
An incredible installation by Zadok Ben David. Using 12,000 cut steel botanical models from old textbook illustrations, embedded in a thin layer of sand. At first sight it’s completely black. Thats why it’s called the “Blackfield”. But the other side of the field turns into a wall of color. Amazing!

ElectiCity, 2008 Beatrice Coron (see her other cities here). This reminds me of how I felt about Vienna— that it was a web of electric wires that met at the Riesenrad. Also @kthread, for her spiderwebs.
I welcome this new book artist into my life.
